Picture perfect lighting

PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING AUSTRALASIA recently completed a lighting project for Australand Property Group providing an outdoor pathway lighting solution for the Range Estate at Croydon, Victoria.

The client’s brief was to create “quality lighting for the pathways between a number of stone columns whilst having the lighting fixtures blend into the stone columns”.  The recommended product for the project was the Realta from the Spectra range.

The Realta is a wall or pole mounted fixture of contemporary styling which features a die-cast aluminium body and injection moulded polycarbonate reflector with a vacuum metallised high purity finish.  A specifically designed precision lens and reflector ensures high levels of energy efficiency and neglible upward light.  The Realta produces a wide beam asymmetric light. The most prominent feature and deciding factor for Australand was the high IK rating of 10 (polycarbonate lens) which acts to provide considerable resistance to mechanical impact.

The installation featured Realta fixtures which were fitted with
42W CFL lamps.

Whilst the Realta is usually mounted on walls the Range Estate at Croydon has discovered a unique application for this product which has proven very successful.

Australand is very pleased with the installation commenting that “the Realta fixtures have helped us to achieve a functional yet aesthetic lighting effect for the estate that makes it more welcoming to its residents … It’s a unique product in terms of style, which complimented our theme for The Range at Croydon”, stated Mr Chetty Development Manager at Australand.

Spectra to feature at the 2012 Australian
Tennis Open

PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING AUSTRALASIA was recently commissioned to provide luminaires to complete an external lighting upgrade at Tennis Australia’s Melbourne Park venue in time for the 2012 Australian Tennis Open.

Melbourne Park’s tennis courts are undergoing a staged lighting refurbishment throughout 2011-12. This project involves the replacement of current light fittings with Spectra’s high performance ‘Ace’. The installation of Ace fixtures will provide a superior quality of light for this prestigious sports venue enabling players to compete in optimal conditions.

One of the senior lighting engineers on the project commented that the lighting of the courts at Tennis Australia was more of a challenge than normal because the venue features extra wide courts in comparison with a standard court’s dimensions. The Ace by Spectra was perfect for the project and was easily able to meet all the requirements that were mandated.

The Ace is an Australian-made fitting which provides an extremely precise asymmetric light control directing light only where it is needed. This level of control is an essential ingredient for modern sports venues. The Ace operates with “EYE lighting” brand metal halide lamps and is made from the highest quality of materials.
